Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park and World Heritage Area

This 161,000 Hectare highland park contains one of Tasmanian's most recognised symbols or icons. That of the beautifully shaped Cradle Mountain rising above the waters of Dove Lake.

This park is famous for its superb mountain peaks and lakes, its atmospheric forests and its wild alpine moors. In the North at Cradle Valley, there's an award-winning visitor centre and accommodation facilities. Likewise at the southern end on the shores of Lake St Clair there is a new visitor centre and self contained cabins.

The two ends of the park are joined by the famous 80km Overland Track which is a 5-7 day trip for most bushwalkers. Both ends of the park have camping and cabin accommodation and a range of day walks.

Acknowledged as one of the World's Great Walks, The Overland Track can be covered in 3 days in ideal conditions. Entry to the National Park requires a Parks Pass, available on-site and Overnight walkers pay a $100 fee for the overland track experience. CONDITIONS CAN TURN FROM COMPLETELY SAFE TO VERY DIFFICULT AND LIFE THREATENING WITHIN MINUTES, SO WE RECOMMEND THAT AT ALL TIMES BUSHWALKING SAFETY BE YOUR HIGHEST PRIORITY. YOU ARE WELL ADVISED TO WEAR CLOTHING WHICH WILL ALLOW YOU TO SURVIVE IF THE UNEXPECTED SHOULD OCCUR, ALWAYS LOG INTO AND OUT OF CHECK STATIONS, AND CARRY SOME ESSENTIAL BUSHWALKING GEAR INCLUDING TENT, TORCH, MATCHES, CHOCOLATE, WATER AND YOUR CAMERA.
