The garden has a huge poplar and ancient pear tree which enhance the peaceful and gracious ambience of the property. At the front there is a sheltered verandah. The kitchen, in addition to the usual layout, has dado walls and features a colonial oven (with provision for a fire above and below it) and the stairs rise from it. All downstairs rooms have original fireplaces with cedar mantle pieces, including the bathroom which leads off the main bedroom. A cosy sitting room has games, books and a t.v. A wood heater has recently been installed. Two attic bedrooms with angled ceilings also have some small furnishings and toys for children. What to do. * Visit the art gallery, craft shop and Australasian Golf Museum. * Walk down historic Croakers Alley to the Clyde River. * Walk around historic Bothwell with informative plaques on old buildings. * Play golf on the oldest course in Australia. * Visit the Steppes Reserve with the Steppes Stone sculptures celebrating our Central Highlands Heritage. *Base for fishing in the Central Highland Lakes. To get there. Take Highway 1 (Midlands Highway) to Melton Mowbray take A5 (Lake Highway) to Bothwell.
