Wilderness This is a region of waterways and wilderness, primary produce and arts
and crafts. As you travel further south, this region's character
gradually becomes more untamed and rugged.
The D'Entrecasteaux Channel is a peaceful region. Its sheltered coves
and bays make it a favourite haunt of boating enthusiasts and
recreational fishermen. A vehicular ferry departs from Kettering for the
northern end of Bruny Island. This is a fascinating and scenic island
that you should set some time to thoroughly explore it.

The Cygnet area and Port Huon contain
studios of artists, potters and wood
turners, antique shops and wineries. Fields of fruit trees in

reached from Cockle Creek or by light aircraft from Hobart.
Cockle Creek is the southernmost point you can visit by car in
Australia. It is beautiful in its own right but is also well known as
the place where one sets off on foot to explore Tasmania's wild south
coast.
Nearby are the stunning limestone formations of Hastings Caves and
Australia's longest cave system, Exit Cave. You certainly don't want to
miss exploring the southernmost region of Australia's southernmost
state.
